HomeschoolPlanner & Records

Homeschool planner for iPhone, iPad & Android

A year of learning, recorded as it happens.

Plan lessons by child and subject and check them off each day; attendance and instruction hours add up on their own. At the end of the year, Homeschool turns it all into the attendance logs, hour totals, report cards, portfolios and transcripts that many states and colleges ask for. Proof of a year's learning, without a binder of spreadsheets.

The Today screen: each child's lessons for the day, ready to check off

How it works

Plan the week. Check off the day. Export the year.

Three small habits, and the paperwork keeps itself.

  1. Plan

Add each child and their subjects, with the weekdays each one is taught and the minutes per lesson. Plan a unit in one go: numbered or pasted lessons land one per school day, skipping weekends and breaks. Print each child's week as a checklist.

  2. Check off

Today lists every child's lessons. Tick them off as you go and their minutes are logged. A field trip, co-op or music practice? Log it for one child or several, at home or away.

  3. Export

Days and hours count themselves against your state's targets. When the year ends, a quarter closes or a form is due, export an attendance log, hours log, report card, portfolio, transcript or certificate as a PDF, or everything as a CSV.

Inside the app

Everything the year needs to keep.

Today, Plan and Records do the daily work. Reports turn it into paper when someone asks for it.

The Today screen: each child's lessons for the day, the morning's already checked off

Today

Every child's lessons for the day, ready to check off. Done lessons log their minutes, and Log activity covers field trips, co-op and music practice, for one child or several.

The Plan screen: a child's subjects and the week's planned lessons, with Plan a unit and Bump

Plan

Subjects with the weekdays they're taught and the minutes per lesson. Plan a unit at once, bump lessons forward after a missed day, and see each child's week.

The Records screen: school days and hours so far against the state's targets, hours by subject, and the date the year is on pace to finish

Records

Days and hours add up as you go: by subject, in core subjects and core hours at home, against your state's targets, with the date you're on pace to finish.

An attendance log report: a month-by-month calendar of school days with totals

Reports

An attendance log laid out month by month, an hours log and a year-end progress report. PDF to print or email, or a CSV spreadsheet of everything.

A report card for one quarter: each subject's grade and average, with the parent's comments

Report cards

Grade lessons as you go, as a percentage, a score or a letter. Report cards with your comments print for a quarter, a semester or the year.

A high-school transcript: courses by year with credits, grades, and weighted and unweighted GPA

Transcript

High-school courses with credits and grades, GPA both weighted and unweighted, test scores, activities and course descriptions, by year or by subject. A graduation plan shows the credits still to earn in each area.

A high-school diploma ready to print: the school's name, the graduate's full name, the date, a gold seal and two signature lines

Certificates & diploma

Print a certificate for a grade completed, the 100th day of school, a finished book, a year of reading or any award you name, and a diploma for your graduate.

Work samples: photos of a child's worksheets, drawings and paintings, saved for the portfolio

Portfolio

The year in review: each child's reading list, day notes and the work-sample photos you took along the way.

And the everyday details

State requirements

Made for your state.

Pick your state and Homeschool suggests the year's targets (days, hours, core hours, core hours at home) from presets for all 50 states and DC, each with a plain-English summary and a link to the law. Every target stays editable.

  • Hours by subject, core-subject hours and core hours at home
  • An on-pace projection: “you'll reach 180 days by May 21”
  • Present, half-day, absent, excused and holiday marks, school breaks and an optional daily minimum

Questions

The short answers.

Is it free?

Yes, for one student. The free version includes all the planning and tracking, lets you preview every report, and unlocks each PDF or CSV export with a short video; it shows ads. Homeschool Pro adds every child, unlimited exports and no ads: monthly, yearly with two free weeks, or once for life.

Do I need an account?

No. There's no sign-up, no login and no server. Open the app, add your first student and start planning.

Where is my data, and what if I lose my phone?

Your records are stored in the app on your phone, and we never see them. In More › Backup & restore you can save a backup file, photos included, wherever you like (Files, Google Drive, your email) and restore it on a new phone or tablet. Make one regularly: without a backup, records on a lost phone can't be recovered. Your phone's own iCloud or Google backup may also include the app's data, depending on your settings.

Which states does it cover?

All 50 states and DC. Pick yours and the app suggests the year's targets, such as days, hours, core hours and core hours at home, with a plain-English summary and a link to the state's law. It's a general guide, not legal advice: laws change, so check your state's current rules, and change any target that doesn't fit your situation.

Can it make a high-school transcript?

Yes. Put subjects on the transcript, and add courses taken elsewhere, with credits and grades. The app builds a transcript PDF across every school year, with weighted and unweighted GPA, test scores and activities, and a course-descriptions document to go with it.

Does it keep grades and make report cards?

Yes. Grade any lesson as a percentage, a score like 18/20 or a letter. Each subject keeps its average, and report cards with your comments print for a quarter, a semester or the whole year.

We started the school year before the app. Can I add what we've done?

Yes. Add each child's days and hours so far (and core hours, where your state counts them) as totals from before the app. They count toward the year's targets and appear on the attendance and hours reports. You can also mark earlier days present in the attendance calendar.

Can siblings share a subject?

Yes. Link a subject across children, like a morning basket or a shared science, and it shows once on Today for all of them. One check-off records the lesson and its hours for each child.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Planning, checking off, attendance, hours and reports all work without a connection. Only ads and purchases need the internet.

Does it work on iPad?

Yes. It works on iPad as well as iPhone, and on Android phones and tablets.
